Gary Hill exhibition "A Question of Perception” shows how the American media conceptual artist has been revealing the essence of image and language through the medium of video for more than five decades. With forty-six works spanning five decades, the Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg has the largest collection of works by Hill in Germany. In the last few years, several more recent installations have been added to the holdings and are now being shown for the first time in this exhibition.

Domenico Antonio Mancini, with his installation Sei Dieffenbachia, is the second artist selected to activate SCONFINA. Mancini’s intervention arises from the urgency of exploring a political issue close to his heart: the right to housing, linking it to the history of public social housing and its accessibility. In Sei Dieffenbachia, Mancini translates his political reflections into a poetic work, addressing the need for intervention, whether publicly or collectively. By doing politics without explicitly talking about it and flipping the relationship between objects, the artist invites passersby on Via Aleardi to take action.

This collection reflects the most significant themes of his work and includes examples from his most iconic series. The main theme of the exhibition is Kentridge’s creative process. He is renowned for his unique approach to blending different forms of expression, such as drawing, hand-drawn animation, film, music, dance, and set design. Through his creations, Kentridge explores the complex history of South Africa and, more broadly, the nature of human emotions and memory.
